Mad for Mad Hot Ballroom

Last night I watched Mad Hot Ballroom. What an excellent documentary. The kids are sweet and naive and knowing and wise. The adults, on the whole, are caring and supportive. And for the first time in my life I realized what it must mean for a team of children to bring a trophy home to their school against the odds. I already understood the part about losing when you've done your best. But, oh, to a part of something greater than yourself and to be rewarded! You could feel for these kids and the people who brought them along.
