For Gore's Sake, Do Something

Get out the pitchforks and torches, and let the revolution begin. I just saw An Inconvenient Truth. Discarding some of the more obvious political jabs, it really is a profoundly important documentary.

If nothing is done then we may not have to worry about medicare and social security running out. We'll all have died of sunburn in 50 years. It really is about that frightening.

I found myself at the end thinking, "Realistically, what can I do?" Lo, the end credits have a number of very simple and effective suggestions, which, if everyone adopted them, much of the problem's immediate growth would be gone, and there might actually be time to figure out how to reverse it, or at least maintain.

Go see it, and then DO something.

It was actually double movie day. I also saw The Proposition which was accurately described as an Australian revisionist western. It ain't a pretty film, and no one comes out it unbloodied, and relatively few alive. But it has a point, and there's some fine acting and cinematography in it.
