From the Sublime to the Ridiculous

From the sublime to the ridiculous.

Yesterday I followed an impulse and visited the Anacostia Aquatic Gardens because I had heard that the lotus ponds were in full splendour.

They were.

The plants stand about six feet above the water. It was hot and humid and quiet and all rather spiritual standing there staring at acres of blooms in all stages of development.

The ridiculous is coming home to a cat who has taken to laying about on her back and mewing at me. What does she want? Air conditoning?

I took a quick trip up to Pennsylvania today to see my Mom. I'm glad I did. Nothing but good news from her doctors. Her oncologist says the tumor is stable for the moment, her ophthalmologist says her eyesight is improving after the cataract surgery.

And she's seeming a bit more cheerful generally. I am so relieved.
