Another One Gone
Another person from my past is gone; requiem in pace.
The story I had finally settled upon to tell his wife was of one day when he told me he had to read a homily in church inveighing against blasphemy. He had an, er, salty vocabulary.
He recognized the irony of him reading such a passage, and said he would not be surprised if the heavens opened up and he was struck by lightning.
But he was willing to take the lesson to heart and try to do better and clean up that particular part of his act.
But that was Bob, a character with character.
