terrshee's Diaryland Diary

Message in a Bottle

Sunday proved to be far less productive than Friday or Saturday, and I've decided to blame it on my latest addiction: computer games on games.yahoo.com. I ended up spending possibly five or six hours out of my day on various pointless exercises in pattern building. I don't know why my brain zones out on it so well, but there it is.

So today begins yet another effort to find a life outside of liking to feel numb. Oh joy.

The other issue that's been on my mind is how people find each other on Diaryland. DebSiobhan told me how she does it, and it makes sense. But the thought that someone out there who doesn't know me at all would be a regular reader of my posts? KnitGeek has had the experience, and I concur that it feels a bit odd to have total strangers reading your blog. It is rather marvelous how among all the multitude of blogs in the world that anyone could find someone as obscure as myself. It passes my understanding. Based on my stats, I don't think I've got any readers who aren't my friends. Which is rather comforting really. Although in some way the idea of being "discovered" and liked by an unknown person is kind of cool.

I don't know. I started this because it once occured to me that people I know would like an easy way to stay in touch with my day-to-day doings. Otherwise it is rather like I'm beaming a radio signal into space and maybe, just maybe, some alien is going to pick it up and comprehend. Or the proverbial message in a bottle that someone on a distant shore will find. Is there some sort of destiny I'm trying to tempt into finding me? And just for fun:

The Veteran
You scored 90%!
You've picked up the majority of the classic rock basics. You probably have a classic rock collection and can sing along with most of the songs on your local radio station. This is not the highest score, but it is arguably the best: that subtle combination of impressive knowledge and not being a pretentious geek.

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 28% on notes
