Fall Allergy Seasons

Snuffle, snuffle, sneeze and whuffle, blow nose and tissue crumple. Fall allergy season has begun. Bleh.

The nature of leadership in this country is puzzling me exceedingly.

If this were a company and the CEO had screwed up as much as Prez Bush, his "taking responsibility" would mean a swift exit under the golden parachute and a series of cushy board jobs at his friend's companies.

In government this means using billions of taxpayer (future) dollars to atone for your mistakes in appointing incompetents to critical positions, thus benefiting your supporters via no-bid contracts.

Are there really any consequences for bad judgement anymore? How can anyone in power in any aspect of life get that they are responsible if they aren't hurt by their failures?

I hate to say it because I'd rather believe that worth is ultimately rewarded, but I've come to the conclusion that indeed there is a white male hegemony out there that only likes to hire in their own image, and can do no wrong in one another's estimation. And the current climate in the country isn't going to erode that structure any more any time soon.

Sad, sad. I fear for my future.
