Trytpophan Rules Thanksgiving

I find myself wondering if the choice of turkey as the main meat for Thankgiving dinner has more to do with ingesting tryptophan than the tradition that it was eaten by the Pilgrims? We all certainly seem mellow enough after dinner. How many family interactions have been smoothed over because the principals are too sleepy to argue? ;-) And the Butterballs that grace our tables are a far cry from the stringy birds taken from the wild.

It was on the whole a good day, although there is always the guilt about not heading up to Pennsylvania to spend it with my blood family, especially this year. But I shall be leaving to see my Mom shortly, and all will be well.
