The Downside of Summer Movie Season

The downside of the summer movie season is now evident. My favorite theater complex houses a lordly 24 screens and is affectionately known as the Temple of Karnak.

This week it is offering a paltry nine different movies. Whatever happened to variety?

Of these I've seen the ones I want to see, except Cars which I won't go anywhere near for at least two weeks to avoid the mobs of restless children and parents desperate for something to entertain them which isn't actively harmful to their brains. The rest of the offering I disdain as commercial trash below my intellect and taste.

The local indie movie house is showing The Proposition, an Australian revisionist Western. Sounds much more interesting than The Breakup.
