Mulling the Economy

I contemplate the irony of economics.

In California, growers are complaining of a shortage of illegal workers to harvest crops at substandard wages.

This will result in higher food prices because not all the crops will be harvested.

No mention of paying a higher wage to legal workers which might result in higher food prices, but improve the illegal immigration situation by providing more tax dollars to government from payroll taxes and fewer government expenditures to deal with the impact of undocumented workers.

Also, we are paying higher prices for energy to run air conditioning, which raises carbon levels in the atmosphere, which results in global warming, which leads to more air conditioning use and consumer complaints about energy prices, which forces the government to control energy rates at lower levels, which is an incentive to greater energy use.

Via free enterprise! Makes sense to me.
