terrshee's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Message from Afar Now I'm really weirded out. I just got a forward from the editor of "The Oak" (local SCA kingdom arts and sciences newsletter). A university student in Hungary is trying to track me down to help with her studies on the subject of courtly love based on an article I wrote ages ago. I'm a bit awed by the power of the Internet to perserve and disseminate diverse information. I'm a bit puzzled about why what is clearly an amateur article should capture an academic's attention (although not unflattered). I find it strange that a person who doesn't really exist (my SCA name) should be petitioned for help. And I'm totally repulsed that after a quick Google search that I find a number of porn sites are offering links to my articles on courtly love. I guess this is one of the perils of the information age; the lack of control over content once it is published. I now wonder how many student papers have cribbed my words? ;-) 7:41 a.m. - 2005-01-21 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- past tense - always tense - future tense |
