Christmas Displays

I braved the mall yesterday to catch a movie (Aeon Flux, skip it. The best parts were in the trailer. Even my fondness for Marton Csoskas didn't save it). The shopping mob wasn't so bad. In fact it wasn't any worse than most weekends. Which makes me wonder if this is going to be a slow retail season. But it is early days.

Anyway, I wandered past the Bass Pro superstore. They've got a display out front of taxidermied deer as part of "Santa's Stable." It was kind of hard to feel warm and fuzzy about this nice holiday icon when it is in front of a place that sells hunting gear.

"Hey, Fred, let's go bag some deer and get 'em stuffed so we can use 'em in the Christmas display." "Good idea, Joe. Later we can put 'em in the den with the rest of the trophies." At least they didn't substitute a red light bulb for the nose of one.
