Turned Corners

I think today is Turning The Corner Day.

An announcement went up in the stairwell here at Overpriced Shoddy Construction Acres that a long dispute with the builder is nearing an end in a manner all can live with. Whew.

The building on the property that burned down a year ago is finally being rebuilt.

The new management company seems to have more than one clue token and knows how to use more than one at a time.

I am happier about living here than I have been for a while. No, not happier, perhaps feeling more secure is a better way to put it.

I scored on airfare to Cancun next winter and managed to beat the travel agent's best price by over $150. There are some advantages to being A-R and checking more than one Internet travel site. There's also a certain amount of luck involved because while Travelocity had the fabu price this morning, they didn't this afternoon, while Expedia.com had apparently not gotten the memo from the airline yet. Woohoo. Perhaps I should not crow for a bit until I am sure I won't get the "We're sorry, we goofed" email.

Another good omen is that the parts for the air conditioner repair arrived today, along with the nicely cool weather. There's a certain irony there, but since the actual repair person won't be here for another two weeks there is plenty of time for nature to right the balance.

I was briefly seriously considering playing hookey again tomorrow, but the work sked says there is too much to do that actually needs my physical presence. Bummer. Perhaps it won't be so awful. The good fairies may have sprinkled sensible dust all over the workplace.
